It seems that lately our biggest adventure in NWN online is overcoming technical difficulties. Sunday’s session was another, and for awhile, things did look bad.
The other day, in The Maze Of Terminology, we looked at the how the lines have blurred between genres.
Me and him. You and her. “Him”, “her”, and all the other NPCs we come across in RPGs and adventure games. Only, of course, we’re not really talking.
There was a time when games had clear, simple labels. Adventure. Arcade. RPG. War/strategy. You knew, with fair accuracy, what to expect. These days, though, the lines have blurred considerably.
A few days ago, in Storytelling Again, I posted about Warren Spector’s storytelling article on The Escapist. Much to my surprise, there were few comments.
Yes, two different sites have had the opportunity for hands-on play of these upcoming games, and the results are worth a look.
Over at The Escapist, they have a piece by Warren Spector about next generation storytelling in games.
Yesterday’s session was looking a bit doubtful. Our new barbarian couldn’t make it, and it seemed we’d be missing our bard, too.
