So it’s the day after Christmas. Everyone’s unwrapped (or ripped open) their gifts. Was Santa good to you this year? Did you get any neat games? Did you even get a game? What (gamewise) was under your tree? And if you didn’t get anything game-related, why not?
I got nothing (game-related or not). But I did get my computer working again, which is nice.
Now, however, it’s developed a rattle. I can’t figure out where it’s coming from, but it’s getting rather annoying. Oh, well. Time for the next breakdown, I suppose.
ditto, nada. Though one of the kids (30) got a PSP (Madden) and the grandkids (3 and 7) wii & nintendo DSes (Mario, etc).
At their ages, I was happy with toy soldiers, a six-shooter, and bottle of Grand Marnier.
[what is this world coming to? :)]
My wife and I decided this year to forgo presents for each other and hang stockings and put nice little items in them and have really good food instead.
We realized that usually if we want a gizmo or item for the house we just go buy it so we don’t have a list of items for presents when xmas comes around.
The meat, cheese, and bread platter to snack on while cooking the goose and sides was particularly rewarding.
I did pick up a game review for Wargamer so I guess that could count as a present ??
Oh, the game is STALKER: Clear Sky btw.
Wow, Santa was stingy this year. No one received a game or game-related item. Sad.
GB, I hope that bottle of Grand Marnier (good stuff!) was at the 30 age and not 3 or 7 ;)
TW, a game review doesn’t quite count, sorry!
WC, I hope that rattle isn’t anything serious.
I gave myself the CE of Tabula Rasa. I think I will register the month of January and then play February for free until it’s gone.
I received a game for Christmas, but I’ll leave the title out of this reply.
I mostly got lots of chocolate, however the next day I bought Aquaria on a whim, and it’s turned out to be an excellent decision.
I gifted myself 4 games this season:
* Morrowind (GOTY ed.)
* Neverwinter Nights (Diamond ed.)
* Guild Wars Factions
* Talisman (rev. 4th ed.)
I was good to myself. :)
Dave, how come you won’t tell us the title?
Amicable, yeah, you certainly were good to yourself (but if you aren’t, who will be? ;). I also notice that nost of those aren’t – ahem – modern games.
Chevluh, chocolate is good stuff. I received some as a present, too (not much left by now!). What is “Aquaria”? I hope not watching fish swim around ;)
Santa went dumpster diving for my PC game Christmas gifts:
1) Birth of America ($5)
2) LocoMania ($10)
3) Dungeon Runners ($16)
And since I play both PC and tabletop games, I also got Runebound: Sands of Al-Kalim.
Oops! I forgot one, because it’s not sitting under the Christmas tree. A friend bought me Gothic for $5 from GOG.
Fizz, doesn’t matter if the games are cheap, so long as they’re good.
Nice to see that some folks received a few games this Xmas. I hope everyone enjoys them!
I got some money to put towards a RAID system I have been wanting. I want to mirror a couple Terabyte hard drives to store my ever increasing amount of data. Mirroring two hard drives will protect the data since if one fails the data will still be on the other one and I can replace the failed one.
It seems like my rate of accumulating data is rising fast. Home movies of the kids are digital now as well as my pictures. I have converted most of my album collection from the 60s and 70s to MP3, and 10 years ago I archived all of my DOS floppies to CD. After reading some articles on bit rot where the organic compounds comprising the recordable area of a CD deteriorate after a period of time, I figured it was time to back them up again.
