Folks, I’ve got some kind of weird modem problem on my main machine. For some reason, the modem isn’t being recognized. Looking in the properties of the dial-up box, it shows “removed” next to the modem name. And it was just fine this afternoon.
I don’t know what’s going on here, but I sure didn’t need this on top of everything else. Especially since I can’t find the install disk. So everything is on hold until I can fix the problem. ARRGGHH!!
Update: it seems to have cleared itself. On booting up this morning, I found everything back to normal. Apparently the full shutdown did something that the “restart” yesterday didn’t. Whew! I hope it stays all right now.
Yikes. Don’t like the sounds of that. Hope it’s nothing viral related or a hacked IP.
My monk throws a +100 healing spell your way…
I have seen strange things like that before, especially with COM and LPT ports. They get hung or something so until you completely remove power they don’t get properly reset.
I had a better weekend than you it sounds like. I finally finished Spellforce 2 Dragon Storm yesterday. It’s one I had to order online last year from Metaboli in Europe since they didn’t have a US distributor and had put it on the back burner. I believe it is available on Steam now and maybe in the Spellforce Universe package as well. It seemed to have a slow part in the middle of the game but after getting through that part I really enjoyed it, though the original Spellforce 2 Shadow Wars was better.
Xian, looks like you may be right. So far, everything has been working properly again.
Amicable, thanks for the good wishes. Perhaps that healing spell worked!
Out of more than curiousity: Are you running the server from your home? If so (& you don’t mind), what……(specs)….?
Server? What server? I’m on dial-up, gb. It was something (whatever it was) purely local to my computer.
Oh. So, the modem problem had nothing to do with the site’s up&downs
