Next week is E3, the gathering where companies show off upcoming titles and vaporware ;) EA is attending, and they have a lot of games on their list.
Twenty-six, in fact. Unfortunately, only two would be of any interest to me: Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2. The rest are shooters, sports, Sims, and Spore, pretty much.
Of course, displaying titles is a far cry from announcing release dates, and none of the 26 has one yet that I know of. Companies have been famous (or infamous) for demo-ing products that were still years away from retail (and that’s not even counting DNF ;).
EA is big, but 26 seems to be a lot, even for them. Take a look, and see what you think.
Let’s hope that they don’t mess up ME2 and DA:O with some intrusive DRM like they did with the first Mass Effect, which I was wanting to play but refused to buy.
EA Sports Active is already out and getting good reviews. It’s supposed to be one of the better Wii Fitness games, even more so than Wii Fit.
I find E3 so depressing. The best computer I have has a hard time running Half-Life 2. But even if I had an awesome rig I’ve become so annoyed at game industry sequelitis and the increase in complexity without depth that I’m looking more toward indie games (like Positech’s upcoming Gratuitous Space Battles, which looks like it will be just plain fun).
Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 are also the only two I am interested in from EA’s lineup.
I’m not even sure of these. Bioware’s games to me never seem to play as well as they should. I recently picked up Star Wars Knights of the old Republic. Admittedly this is a fairly old game, but the graphics are fine for me. I’m only a few hours into the game, but so far I’m a bit disappointed, it is simplistic in the extreme. The game consists of extremely easy, simplistic combat and searching for items.
Maybe I should stay away from Bioware games, I also found Baldur’s Gate II to be too simplistic. I gave up on it after about 10 hours of play.
